Eye bags, dark circles, tired eyes, tear trough are often associated with the same condition, which is aging changes in the eyelids. What is the non surgical eye bag correction like?
The appearance of dark circles occurs due to loss of fat overlying the bony orbital margin either due to genetic changes or gravity and aging. This produces the so called tear trough deformity causing shadows especially with over head lighting. Occasionally, dark circles are caused by pigmentation in this area and will require skin care treatments to improve this. Eyebrow drooping can be lifted and lines around the eyes - crow's feet can be softened using Botulinum toxin injections. As mention above it will also be recommended to use Obagi Elastiderm to maintain, improve the firmness and remove the fine lines of the skin around the eye.

Who is the ideal candidate?

What do I need to know before the procedure?
Initial consultation will determine the goals of treatment, make note of any associated abnormalities or asymmetries and plan the optimum treatment to achieve the ideal result in each patient. Treatment is carried out in the out-patient setting and takes 15 – 20 minutes. The filler is injected into the tear trough to smoothen the area. The options for type of filler include; Restylane or Juvederm. Botulinum toxin is injected using very fine needles to the desired areas. To achieve the maximum effect from Obagi Elastiderm is recommended that the product should be used day and night.
What is the difference with surgery?
One of the major advantages compare to surgical is obviously the cost and complication involved. Minimal discomfort is expected during the treatment and no bruising should occur with the careful techniques used. Any mild bruising will usually resolve after 1 week. Your skin below the eye may feel tender for the first 3 – 5 days.
It is painful?
A numbing cream will be used before the procedure, minimal discomfort is expected during the treatment. Cooling of the skin after treatment help reduce discomfort and swelling.
What are the side effects?
Reactions following the treatment are almost unheard of but some individuals can experience common reactions such as discomfort, swelling and bruising which will usually resolve in 3 -5 days. Use of Arnica tablets and Arnica cream will aid rapid healing following treatment. Rarely, lumps or asymmetry can appear which may require further treatment.
When can I see the results?
Improvement in the tear trough is seen immediately following treatment. However, some swelling or bruising may take 3 -5 days to resolve. How long does it last?
Improvement will last for approximately 6 to 9 months with Juvederm, Teosyal or Crystal. Relaxation of the active facial lines with botulinum toxin will last from 3 - 4 months.
