Before we go into more details, we would like to emphasise that the induction of body's own new collagen is a medical procedure and should only be performed by trained and licensed skin care professionals. The Collagen-Induction-Therapy (CIT) by micro-needling the skin requires special medical Dermarollers and medical knowledge. As human skin has an average thickness of 1.5 mm, Dermaroller needle lengths range from 0.2.5 to 1.5 mm. Any longer needles – often offered by copiers of the Original - are contraindicated! Needles longer than 0.25 mm cause pain and require a pre-anaesthetisation of the skin (Needles longer than 0.2 mm penetrate into the dermis, and such a penetration is called invasive). In order to avoid infections and other unpleasant experiences, a medical procedure should always be performed in a clinical environment!
Frequently asked questions
What is DermaRoller?
It is a cylindrical shaped drum stud with fine needle
in different length and a medical device used in
mi-croneedling to stimulate skin cells to proliferate.
This cell multiplication results in the formation of new
tissue layers of elastin- and collagen fibres
(neo-collagenesis) as well as in new capillaries for an
improved blood supply (neo-angiogenesis).
This procedure is called Collagen-Induction-Therapy (CIT).
How does the DermaRoller Work?
As your doctor roll the device over your skin, it creates pin point punctures into the dermis – the majority of which are simply pushing your pores open temporarily. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. The human body reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process, but usually it will only heal as far as it must to keep you healthy – which is different to healing to a cosmetic level. By persistently triggering the healing process, you encourage your body to continue healing until the job is finished.
Following the treatment you will be able to relax for 15 minute while an hydrating facial cloth mask pre-moistened with a refreshing Coenzyme Q10 or vitamin C solution or Botanical extracts will be place over your face. The mask will act as an antinflamatory, soothing agent and prevent damage caused by free radicals. As a result it will improve your skin's surface overall complexion and replenish moisture to your skin.
After the treatment you skin will look like mild sun burn and an sun scren will be applied. 24h to 48h later the skin will show no social downtime. We a light camouflage you will be able to resume all your normal activities.

Do I need a medical DermaRoller treatment if I already use the Home Care DermaRoller?
The needles of the Home Care DermaRoller are too short (0.25 mm) to induce collagen in deeper skin layers. They only support the regeneration of epidermal cells however, are ideal for maintenance purpose following the medical DermaRoller treatment.

What effects does the Dermaroller have on the skin?
There are virtually no negative side effects, and none were ever reported in over a quarter of a million procedures performed worldwide.
What are the side effects of a Dermaroller procedure?
It improves the thickness of the dermis as well as the epidermis. This in return improves skin texture and reduces wrinkles. It also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation. Disfiguring scars, especially acne scars, can be dramatically improved. New collagen fibres elevate the depressed scar tissue. An improved blood supply (neo-angiogenesis) into the previous fibrotic scar tissue harmonises its pigmentation with the periphery skin.
How often can the Dermaroller medical procedure be repeated?
As often as required, but with a minimum separation time of 6 to 8 weeks between treatments. For example, to improve acne scars permanently by 70% and more, in average 2 to 3 procedures are required. Unlike ablative procedures for facial skin only, the Dermaroller can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc.).
What is the down time after a Dermaroller treatment?
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly with in hours from redness to pinkish that may last for1 to 2 days in average, depending on the pigments of the individual.
In order to reduce that redness visibly, we recommend 3 hours after the procedure, but latest next morning, to cover it with the SUN SCREEN SPF30 that contains a mineral camouflage made from red and yellow iron oxides.
Has Dermaroller same effect like fractional laser?
Definitely YES! But the mechanism of action of a fractional laser is totally different. A laser beam sets a burn wound that results in necrosis. After an inflammatory process the lasered proteins transform into fibrotic tissue in forms of micro scars. Only20% of the skin can be fractionally lasered at a time. Therefore a minimum of 5 sessions must be anticipated. Nerve cells are “melted” by the hot laser beam, therefore the treatment is relatively painful. As the physician cannot see the previous set scars under the epidermis in a follow-up treatment, it is extremely difficult for him to set an even scar pattern. This is the reason why more treatments are required as initially anticipated. But overall, as reported in clinical trials and besides costly investment in lasers, both therapies have about the same results in facial rejuvenation.
Can the DermaRoller improve scars and acne scars?
Acne scars and pitted scars are areas of skin which have experienced significant localised trauma during acne outbreaks. The scars remain because the skin has been unable to repair itself to the point at which it existed before the acne outbreak. It is a very common condition and when present on the face in particular, they can cause self confidence issues which often last from early teenage years.
Acne scars and pitted scars are treated using a Dermaroller with a great deal of success. With no need for harsh abrasiveness or expensive therapies, the micro-needles of the dermaroller gently encourages your acne scarring or pitted scarring to fill out and drastically reduce in appearance. You will be left with a significantly improved skin within a few weeks of using your dermaroller.
Can the DermaRoller remove stretch marks?
Stretch marks or striae are caused by skin stretching during rapid growth in puberty and pregnancy. About 80% of all pregnant women are experiencing striae. So far the cure of stretch marks has been “very difficult”, and the improvement with creams or laser is very limited.
Stretch mark removal is just one of the many benefits associated with the use of the DermaRoller. Stretch marks occur when the skin is stretched suddenly. The outer layer of skin isn’t affected, but the dermis becomes thinner and develops tiny tears. The blood vessels that lie under the skin show through, giving the marks a reddish colour. Later, when the blood vessels contract, the purplish colour fades to silvery white.
The process of removing stretch marks or treating stretch marks happens as the DermaRoller stimulates the production of new collagen fibres and elastin in the skin. The stretch marks fill in, the skin thickens, tightens and elasticity is restored. The rate at which stretch marks removal can be achieved varies depending on the severity of the case, but noticeable changes can be seen in as little as a week with dramatic results in a month or less.
Can the DermaRoller improve hyperpigmentation?
Hyper pigmentation is a melanin concentration, often associated with scars, acne scars and other skin lesions. They are more profound on darker skin. The dark spots in general respond very well to a Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). Usually 1 to 2 procedures are required to bring your skin back to a normal and even pigmentation. The spots disappear and do not return - unless the skin is mistreated.
Can the DermaRoller remove wrinkles?
Yes. Wrinkle are caused by extrinsic and intrinsic factors which causes skin degradation. DermalRoller works by inducing cell regeneration! According to the individual skin condition, 1 to 3 procedures, separated by 6 to 8 weeks, are sufficient to resurface the skin. As aging continues, we recommend one refresher-CIT every year. Between the CITs and after the last one, you can support the results of the CIT by using the Home Care Dermaroller in combination with high-end peptide serums.
Can the DermaRoller remove cellulite?
Yes. Just visit our DermaRollers Before and After Pictures page for some amazing evidence of how well the DermaRoller can work for you! Cellulite reduction and even cellulite removal can be accomplished with regular treatment with the DermaRoller. Cellulite treatment can be carried out with the DermaRoller on the legs, thighs, hips, buttocks (bottom), stomach, arms.
